MONEY WORRIES is a comics zine series João started in 2014 with the intention of talking about money and the pervert way it currently works. It is named after a homonymous song by The Maytones.
It was first inspired by the book "Small Is Beautiful: a study of economics as if people mattered" (1973) by E. F. Schumacher. Also by other contemporary economists who have been talking about reinventing money and reforming the current monetary system.
First published by 1359 and O Panda Gordo within the context of a micro-residency hosted by Téo Pitella at 1359, in Lisbon, October 2014. Second edition published by O Panda Gordo in 2017 anticipating the release of MONEY WORRIES #2.
It all seems so simple, especially when illustrated with rounded lines and simple layouts that disguise the hidden depths of this devilish trap. Sobral documents day-to-day life trapped in this maze fraught with contradiction, anxiety and daily selling out of your principles.
